The University of Nyiregyhaza has expanded its training farm with three modern agricultural machines to strengthen sustainable soil cultivation research and practical agricultural education. The new equipment includes a powerful tractor, a direct seeding machine, and a straw chopping roller. The investment, worth about 90.87 million forints, was funded through non-refundable European Union support. The machines were officially handed over on March 3 during a ceremonial event at the university’s training farm.According to university representatives, the development is part of a broader program launched in 2022 aimed at improving digital education and practice-oriented training at the institution. The initiative is valued at more than one billion forints and focuses on modernizing educational infrastructure and research capacity.Experts from the training farm emphasized that the facility operates using ecological farming methods. The newly acquired machines will support research into environmentally friendly soil cultivation technologies suited to the Nyirség region. The results are expected to help local farmers adopt more sustainable and profitable agricultural practices.Among the new tools, the New Holland tractor can be used for fieldwork, crop care, and transport, while the Multiva direct seeder enables efficient no-till farming, which helps preserve soil structure and reduce environmental impact.University leaders highlighted that the project also supports the institution’s long tradition in agricultural education, which celebrates its 65th anniversary this year.
