
has appointed Maria Thuveson as the new director of SciLifeLab Uppsala, effective February 2026.
Thuveson previously served as Director General at the Swedish Research Council and earlier conducted research at Uppsala University. She brings extensive experience in research funding, policy, and international infrastructure collaboration.
She highlighted the growing importance of strong research infrastructures and international cooperation, noting SciLifeLab’s key role in supporting life science research. While the organization is well established, she sees opportunities to further strengthen coordination across its multi-site structure and participating universities.
The appointment aims to support continued development of SciLifeLab as a leading research infrastructure in Sweden and internationally.
