The Instituto Politécnico de Coimbra signed a cooperation protocol with the local Integrated Response Center in Coimbra to strengthen prevention, awareness, and support related to addictive behaviors within the academic community. The partnership focuses on informing students and staff about risks associated with substance use and behavioral addictions, while promoting healthier and safer academic environments.
The agreement foresees training and awareness activities on issues such as alcohol and drug use, medication misuse, gambling, excessive internet and social media use, and other risk behaviors often linked to anxiety or depression. It also aims to streamline procedures for referral, support, and access to specialized care for students who may need assistance.
In addition to prevention and support, the partnership includes cooperation in research, scientific dissemination, and the co-organization of academic and professional events. By combining expertise, resources, and best practices, the initiative reinforces a proactive approach to student wellbeing, mental health, and social responsibility across higher education.
