A major international research collaboration has examined the effectiveness of the One Health approach in addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR), linking human, animal, and environmental health. Supported by nearly HUF 96 million from Hungary’s National Research, Development and Innovation Fund, the project assessed coordinated interventions across Europe, Canada, Senegal, and the Philippines.
The study found that while Hungary’s veterinary sector has made significant progress in reducing antibiotic use in livestock, cross-sector collaboration in human and environmental health remains in the early stages. The findings aim to inform future policies and strengthen coordinated efforts to curb antibiotic resistance worldwide.
