A delegation from the Uzbek Ministry of Innovation and Higher Education visited Óbuda University to discuss the launch of a new academic mobility programme. The goal of the meeting was to establish a student, faculty–student, and research exchange initiative between Uzbekistan and Hungary.
The Uzbek delegation was led by Deputy Minister Shahrukh Daliev and Rasulbek Otaxhanov, Coordinator for International Higher Education Relations. From Óbuda University, key representatives included Prof. Dr Zoltán Rajnai, General Vice-Rector; Prof. Dr András Molnár, Director of IT; and Antal Németh, Rector’s Commissioner. The Hungarian side introduced a comprehensive academic portfolio showcasing opportunities for Uzbek participants.
Óbuda University plans to host 50 participants, including BSc, MSc, PhD students, and academic staff, through both short-term (3–4 weeks) and longer-term (6–12 months) stays. Financing was reviewed during initial discussions, and a draft Letter of Intent is being prepared to outline shared financial responsibilities.
This cooperation strengthens Óbuda University’s international engagement and is expected to enhance scientific collaboration and cultural exchange between Hungary and Uzbekistan. The next steps include finalising the programme’s structure and concluding financial and administrative arrangements.
