
The University of Nova Gorica held a formal inauguration ceremony for Rector Prof. Dr. Bostjan Golob on 17 February 2026 at the Lanthieri Mansion, marking the start of his second term for 2026–2030. The university’s Board Chair, Prof. Dr. Natasa Zabukovec Logar, symbolically handed over the rector’s insignia, emphasizing both honor and responsibility.
Prof. Dr. Golob highlighted the importance of his oath in guiding the university’s development, overseeing six faculties, the Academy of Arts, four research laboratories, and seven research centers across three locations. The university recently received international recognition for excellence in physical sciences and ranked among the top two Slovenian universities overall.
During the inauguration, Prof. Dr. Gregor Anderluh, Director of the Kemijski inštitut, spoke on the responsibility of university leadership to society and the importance of strategic partnerships with high-tech companies and research institutions.
The rector’s leadership team includes Prof. Dr. Penka Stateva as Vice-Rector for Education and Arts and Prof. Dr. Matjaz Valant as Vice-Rector for Sustainable Development and Technology. Numerous distinguished guests attended, including presidents of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, rectors of Slovenian universities, research directors, mayors, and government officials.
