The University of West Bohemia (UWB) football team, champions of the Czech University League, visited the Rector’s Office to celebrate their successful season. In November, the team secured the league title by defeating the University of South Bohemia 3:1 at Prokopávka in Plzeň.
Rector praised the students for balancing academics with high-level sports and thanked the coaches for their dedication. The players highlighted the final match against the University of South Bohemia as the toughest of the season, both technically and mentally.
Looking ahead, the next university league season starts in March. After the summer exam period, the team will represent UWB and the Czech Republic at the European Universities Games in Italy, with a squad of 25 selected players. The Czech University League includes sixteen universities, and the UWB squad consists of around fifty footballers, open to new recruits through the Institute of Physical Education and Sport.
