
University of Graz has reopened its specialist History Library after an eight-month renovation and expansion project. Located on Heinrichstraße, the upgraded facility now offers modern study spaces, improved energy efficiency, and expanded resources for students and researchers.The redesigned library spans 750 square metres across two floors and houses around 200,000 volumes, providing a central location for historical literature. The renovation introduced 132 workstations—90 more than before—along with a large reading room, a lounge area for discussions, and improved ventilation systems to create a comfortable study environment.The reopening also brings together additional historical collections, including materials from the Southeast European History Department, allowing users to access a wider range of resources in one place. The official reopening event on 11 March 2026 offers guided tours and activities for visitors.
