Dr. Marta Gellert from the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection received a prestigious award from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for significant scientific achievements. Her doctoral research on deep-sea crustaceans of the family Typhlotanaidae revealed new species, genera, and families, providing key insights into biodiversity, evolution, and the functioning of deep-ocean ecosystems. The findings also highlight the sensitivity of these ecosystems to climate change and future seabed resource exploitation.
