
Semmelweis University has made a significant leap in the latest U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings, advancing 79 places in Clinical Medicine to reach 181st worldwide. The rankings evaluated over 2,200 universities across 105 countries, confirming Semmelweis as Hungary’s top-performing medical school.
The university also saw gains in Radiology (174th), Pharmacology (216th), Oncology (232nd), Molecular Biology (326th), and Psychiatry (357th). Its strongest result remains in Cardiac and Cardiovascular Systems, where it ranks 35th globally, outperforming top institutions like the National University of Singapore and KU Leuven.
“In cardiovascular care, we’re at the global forefront, matching the standard of leading European and US centers,” said Dr. Béla Merkely, Rector of Semmelweis University. He highlighted that the upcoming expansion of the Városmajor Heart and Vascular Center will make it the largest in the region by patient volume and scientific output.
Semmelweis is now listed in the top 300 worldwide in six disciplines, underlining its growing international reputation.
