South East Technological University (SETU) participated in the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2025 celebrations in Wexford from August, showcasing traditional Irish music, culture, and entertainment.
The event, organised by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann in partnership with Wexford County Council, is the world’s largest celebration of Irish music, song, and dance, attracting over 600,000 visitors last year. This marks the second year the festival has been hosted in Wexford.
SETU hosted a stand along the Quays, offering course information, student performances, and STEM demonstrations. Music students from the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music performed pop, folk, and Irish traditional pieces, highlighting the diverse curriculum available at SETU’s Waterford campus.
SETU Music Graduate Niamh Lacey shared that studying at the university provided invaluable skills, lasting friendships, and opportunities to perform, including at the prestigious Fleadh Cheoil.
