South East Technological University (SETU), in collaboration with Family Carers Ireland (FCI), has secured additional funding from the Targeted Enhancement Fund (TEF) to continue its ‘Supporting Family Carers Across Ireland’ project.
Originally funded by the HEA in 2022 with €1 million, the initiative has provided free accredited courses for 791 family carers, from NFQ levels 6 to 8. The renewed funding will expand access, offering flexible learning opportunities and supporting both academic achievement and peer networks.
The project, the first of its kind in Ireland, highlights the critical role of family carers and sets a blueprint for inclusive lifelong learning.
