The Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice signed a cooperation agreement with the Regional Center for Geodesy and Cartography Documentation in Katowice. The document was signed by Dr. Eng. Marcin Staniek, Vice-Rector for Cooperation with the Socio-Economic Environment, and Artur Kaczmarek, Director of the Regional Center.
The partnership focuses on geodesy and cartography, including modern technologies for processing and sharing spatial data. Both parties will collaborate on research and development projects, support student education—especially in the Geodesy and Cartography program—and work to strengthen ties between academia and public institutions managing spatial information.
Key aspects include joint scientific projects, updated access to geospatial databases such as BDOT10K, support for diploma theses, and expanded opportunities for student internships and professional placements. The cooperation also aims to address logistical, geodetic, and property management challenges across the Silesian region.
