The University of Sopron officially inaugurated a new educational space developed in partnership with IKEA Industry Hungary Kft., symbolizing over a decade of collaboration between the two institutions. The nearly 3-million-forint investment aims to modernize learning environments and provide students with cutting-edge tools for hands-on training in wood engineering and design.
The collaboration, which began formally in 2014 through a dual training agreement with the Faculty of Wood Engineering and Creative Industries, has evolved into a deep professional and value-based partnership. The new showroom not only supports educational activities but also serves as a venue for workshops and industry meetings, enhancing the practical side of technical education.
University Rector Prof. Dr. Attila Fábián emphasized the importance of IKEA’s ongoing presence, calling it a key contributor to the university’s national and international role in wood industry education. Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Endre Magoss highlighted that the partnership extends beyond wood engineering, with students from other faculties also involved in internships and research projects.
IKEA’s managing director Emese Szakály noted the company’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and quality, encouraging students to adopt these values throughout their education and careers.
