
The Instituto Politécnico de Bragança welcomed Portugal’s Secretary of State for Higher Education, Cláudia Sarrico, The visit included a working meeting to review the institution’s strategic priorities, with a focus on territorial cohesion and the regional impact of higher education.
During the session, Cláudia Sarrico engaged with the IPB President, Orlando Rodrigues, Vice-Presidents, directors of the six schools, and leaders of the institution’s six research centers. Discussions highlighted IPB’s commitment to professional and postgraduate programs, doctoral education, student progression rates, and strategies to retain graduates in the region.
The Secretary of State emphasized higher education’s role in fostering regional development and social cohesion, while IPB showcased its research ecosystem, including Centro de Investigação de Montanha (CIMO), Centro de Investigação em Digitalização e Robótica Inteligente (CeDRI), and other specialized centers and collaborative labs. Internationalization efforts, such as participation in the STARS EU Alliance and dual degree programs with Brazil, were also discussed.
The visit forms part of a series of institutional engagements by the Secretary of State to assess and support higher education dynamics across Portugal.
