
Architecture students from Széchenyi István University took part in an architectural idea competition aimed at renewing the historic Káptalandomb area surrounding the cathedral in the city of Győr. The initiative was organized in cooperation with the local municipality, the Diocese of Győr, and the Mathias Corvinus Collegium Foundation.Eight student teams from architecture and architectural engineering programs submitted proposals for improving the area. The project focused on creating a more attractive and functional public space while preserving the historical and cultural character of the site.After months of work, a professional jury evaluated the submissions and awarded five projects. The winning team proposed a design that balances modern community functions with the historic environment of the hill. Other teams also received recognition for innovative ideas related to green spaces, lighting, and public design elements.The initiative aimed not only to generate ideas for the future development of the area but also to give students valuable practical experience in real urban planning projects.
