Zoltán Májer, a second-year classical organist student at the Faculty of Arts, Széchenyi István University, has won first prize at the prestigious Rachel Laurin Composition Competition. His winning work, “Variations on Tetris Theme,” impressed the Royal Canadian College of Organists and outperformed entries from Australia, Germany, and the US.
Májer, who began music studies as a child, has already placed in international competitions. He credits Széchenyi University for providing both inspiration and practical training, and says support from teachers and fellow students helps him bring creative ideas to life. The university’s Faculty of Arts continues to support its students’ artistic achievements on the global stage.
