
In 2025, NOVA University Lisbon ranks first nationwide in 10 programmes in the National Higher Education Access Competition (CNAES), establishing itself as one of Portugal’s most attractive and competitive universities. These programmes, including Cell and Molecular Biology, Conservation-Restoration, Mathematics, Political Science and International Relations, Philosophy, History, Nutrition Sciences, Law, Economics, and the new Maritime Studies programme, all achieved the highest minimum entry grades nationally.
Together, these programmes represent 23% of NOVA’s offerings in the National Access Competition, reflecting the diversity and quality of its academic portfolio.
In the first phase of the 2025/2026 CNAES, NOVA filled 2,768 of 2,872 places available, achieving a 96.38% occupancy rate and ranking third among all Portuguese universities. Rector João Sàágua emphasized that NOVA remains a benchmark for students seeking an innovative education that prepares them for future challenges.
