Budapest – Gábor Dénes University (GDE) recently welcomed a group of students from Transylvania as part of the Erasmus – Discover EU – “Let’s Explore Europe by Train” programme. Budapest was the first stop in their five-city journey, which also includes Warsaw, Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius.
The half-day programme at GDE focused on Smart City technologies. Representatives from Techray Development Kft., including CEO Máté Hegedűs and Delivery Director Balázs Vörös, presented AI-driven solutions for public administration, education, waste detection, weapon recognition, and intelligent transport systems. Their talks highlighted future possibilities such as AI-controlled traffic lights, V2X communication, and automated electric vehicle charging.
GDE’s Tamás Dede showcased the university’s upcoming drone lab, demonstrating how drones equipped with sensors and image-processing technology can support smart city functions. Students also had the chance to pilot a consumer drone themselves.
The event concluded with a session by Creative Director Ottó Varga, who revealed how digital learning materials and AI-generated avatars are developed. Students even created their own look-alike avatars.
According to feedback, participants found the visit both informative and exciting, gaining new insights into how technology is shaping the cities of the future.
