Universidade de Coimbra has strengthened its role in sustainability by joining the leadership council of SDSN Portugal, a national network dedicated to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.This integration gives the university an active role in shaping strategic decisions and guiding initiatives aimed at accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. The network brings together universities, research centers, businesses, and civil society to collaborate on sustainability challenges.The move follows a cooperation agreement with key institutions, including Universidade NOVA de Lisboa and Universidade Católica Portuguesa, reinforcing a coordinated national effort toward sustainable development.Through this partnership, the involved institutions will collaborate on research, education, public policy support, and capacity-building initiatives. Planned activities include conferences, joint research projects, and the development of knowledge to support decision-making processes.University leadership emphasized that this step recognizes the institution’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and enhances its ability to connect academic research with real-world impact at both national and international levels.
