Around 150 school students from Carinthia and Styria took part in the University of Graz’s second outdoor glacier laboratory on the Dachstein Glacier. Through hands-on experiments, they measured the boiling point of water at high altitude, used thermal imaging to study ice and rock surfaces, and explored the effects of carbon dioxide on global warming. The initiative, part of the Erasmus+ project “GlacierXperience,” brings glaciers into the classroom with VR tools and aims to make glacier science accessible to students across Europe. Plans are underway to expand the program to the Arctic in collaboration with schools in Spitsbergen.
