The University of Lisbon hosted the 3rd edition of the Tutoring Workshop – Coaching Applied to Meetings on 25 July 2025 at the Faculty of Architecture. The initiative, designed to support those guiding students in their first steps in higher education, focused on professional development and collaborative practices.
A total of 21 participants, including tutor professors and technical staff involved in tutoring programs, engaged in a dynamic session led by Gonçalo Moura and Patrícia Simões from Instituto Superior Técnico. The workshop combined tutoring and coaching approaches through practical methodologies and tools such as the GROW and OSCAR models.
The training encouraged participants to plan and conduct more effective tutoring meetings, with an emphasis on personal and academic growth. Feedback highlighted the usefulness of the coaching tools in strengthening confidence and addressing sensitive aspects of student relationships.
The informal environment and close interaction with trainers fostered open dialogue and effective skill development, reinforcing the critical role of tutors in supporting student success. Hosting the event at the Faculty of Architecture once again underlined the university’s commitment to promoting academic achievement and continuous professional development for its educational staff.
This workshop forms part of the broader initiative Promotion of Academic Success and Reduction of Dropout in Higher Education, funded by the PRR through the Impulso+Digital program.
