The University of Miskolc has reached a major milestone in its ongoing digital transformation initiative, DigitALL – Digital Transformation of Education, launched in June 2022. The project, supported by a HUF 3.44 billion non-refundable grant, aims to create a comprehensive digital ecosystem to enhance both academic training and students’ alignment with labor market expectations.
At a press conference marking the fourth milestone of the nearly four-year project, Dr. Gábor Szepesi, Project Manager, outlined the progress achieved, while Dr. Roland Szilágyi, Vice-Rector, highlighted the integration of artificial intelligence into teaching methodologies.
Among the achievements, the university completed the purchase of advanced software for statistical analysis and predictive modeling (CLEMSTAT). These tools are being used to analyze student data and refine educational development strategies to support future career success. The project’s expert recommendations have now reached their 11th milestone.
Digital skills development has been a key focus, with online training provided to students and staff in areas such as Neptun application skills, Microsoft 365 SharePoint, and Excel. In laboratory education, the university invested in high-value equipment for chemical engineering and health sciences programs, including potentiostats, EDX, ICP devices, immunochemical analyzers, clinical analyzers, and hematology analyzers, among others.
The project also emphasizes labor market readiness, engaging nearly 40 corporate partners to review curricula and provide structured feedback. 210 partner companies were formally invited to contribute evaluations, which informed improvements across basic, master’s, and higher vocational training programs.
In addition, the university rolled out smart specialization courses, covering topics such as Advanced Excel, Innovation Management, Business Start-ups, Sustainable Energy Management, Science Communication, and Conflict-Free Communication. Students participated in 11 courses across 22 groups, while staff attended nine groups focused on customer-focused communication. Language and pedagogical skills development also saw participation in 18 language and 17 teaching skills groups.
By the end of the fourth milestone, the installation of 2,787 digital devices was completed, and 11,004 students and staff received education or training as part of the initiative.
