
The University of Miskolc held its official graduation senate ceremonies on January 29 and 30, celebrating students who completed their studies in the autumn semester.
Graduates from eight faculties received their diplomas. On January 29, students from the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences and Engineering, the Faculty of Materials and Chemical Engineering, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Economics, and the Faculty of Health Sciences collected their degrees. On January 30, diplomas were awarded to students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Informatics and the Bartok Bela Faculty of Music.
In total, more than 700 students graduated this semester, including several PhD candidates across multiple faculties.
During the ceremony, State Secretary for Higher Education Veronika Varga Bajusz emphasized that a diploma represents not only knowledge but also responsibility and contribution to society. She also announced that by 2030, the government plans to invest tens of billions of forints into further infrastructure development at the University of Miskolc.
Rector Professor Zita Horvath highlighted that a diploma is more than an official document. She described it as a symbol of years of dedication, perseverance, and shared support from family and friends. She encouraged graduates to carry courage, humility, and responsibility into their future careers.
Several academic titles and awards were also presented. Honorary and habilitation titles were awarded to distinguished professors, and multiple PhD degrees were officially conferred.
Outstanding students received special recognitions, including the Bosch Award and the Gabor Denes Diploma Prize. The Student Union also presented Excellent Lecturer Diplomas and Honor Certificates to educators and students for their contributions to university life.
The ceremony also featured a musical performance by students of the Bartok Bela Faculty of Music.
University leaders reminded graduates that the knowledge and values gained at the University of Miskolc will serve as a strong foundation for shaping their future and contributing to society.
