The University of Nyiregyhaza took part for the first time in the 19th PanyolaFest, one of the most vibrant summer cultural events in Szabolcs Szatmar Bereg County. At its own stand, the university offered engaging programs for all ages, combining science, environmental awareness, and cultural tradition.
Over the three days of the festival (August 1–3), visitors enjoyed interactive activities like microscopic examinations, science demonstrations, and quizzes. Children explored plant parts and arthropods under microscopes, guided by instructors Dr Judit Csabai and Dr Zsolt Horcsik. Meanwhile, high school students and parents received detailed information about the university’s training programs and the Teach for Hungary initiative.
The university also emphasized its commitment to preserving cultural and natural heritage. It introduced visitors to its unique training in folk music and folk culture, as well as its modern programs that focus on sustainability and environmental education—key elements in educating future generations.
PanyolaFest serves as a platform to showcase the cultural and natural richness of the Szatmar region, bringing together local, regional, and international communities. The university supported this mission, building a bridge between academia, tradition, and community. Their presence was made possible with the support of Panyola’s mayor, Zoltan Muhari.
By participating in the festival, the University of Nyiregyhaza reinforced its role in preserving and passing on shared values—whether in science, culture, or nature.
