The University of Pécs hosted the interdisciplinary conference “Power and Consensus in Multidisciplinary Context” on 27–28 August 2025. Held at the Regional Academic Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Pécs, the event brought together researchers from four universities across three countries.
Organised by the Institute of History at Pécs, the conference focused on themes of power and consensus in historical and institutional contexts from late antiquity to the early modern era. It is part of a decade-long cooperation between the University of Zagreb and the University of Pécs, now joined by new institutions such as the University of Szeged, the Croatian Institute of History, and the University of Mostar.
Speakers highlighted the importance of understanding power and consensus not only in political history but also in broader cultural and religious frameworks, helping to deepen perspectives on Central and Southern European history. The next conference in this long-standing series will take place in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
