
The University of Szeged has conferred new academic titles on 17 habilitated doctors and 129 PhD graduates at its Doctoral Degree Award Ceremony, held on 27 June 2025 at the József Attila Study and Information Center.
According to Prof. Dr. Péter Zakar, Vice-Rector for International and Public Relations, the university’s Habilitation Committee awarded seven habilitation titles in medical and pharmaceutical sciences, six in humanities and social sciences, and four in natural and engineering sciences. Meanwhile, the Doctoral Council granted 42 PhDs in medical and pharmaceutical fields, 43 in humanities and social sciences, and 44 in natural and engineering disciplines.
The ceremony was attended by the chairs of the university’s academic bodies, deans from across faculties, and distinguished guests who formally welcomed the graduates into the scholarly community. During the event, graduates recited their doctoral oath led by Dr. Barbara Horvát, who also delivered a speech of thanks on behalf of the new doctors.
Prof. Dr. Zoltán Gyenge, Chair of the Doctoral Council, emphasized the graduates’ responsibility to advance science and serve society. In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Zakar encouraged the new doctors and habilitated scholars to continue contributing to their fields and improving their communities.
The event underlines the University of Szeged’s ongoing commitment to fostering high-level academic achievement and scholarly excellence.
