The University of Turku has begun its academic year 2025–2026, welcoming new students to campus through traditional orientation events. Rector Marjo Kaartinen greeted students from international degree programmes and the Faculty of Social Sciences, introducing them to the University community of over 20,000 students and thousands of staff members.
The orientation included presentations on Turku’s history as a university city, the University’s shared values of creativity, openness, ethics, critical thinking, and community, and the academic and student support services available. Kaartinen encouraged students to engage fully in both their studies and student life.
The University community will gather for the Opening Day festivities on 2 September, featuring the Student Union-organized Opening Carnival and an Opening Ceremony.
