Axiles Bionics, a spin-off of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), has been selected as one of the flagship participants in the federal campaign ‘Belgium Open for Business’. Organised by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the campaign hosts a delegation of Japanese journalists to showcase Belgium’s Health and Biotech Valley.
The company develops intelligent ankle-foot prostheses integrating robotics, artificial intelligence, and human biomechanics, stemming from interdisciplinary research at VUB’s Brubotics research centre under Professor Bram Vanderborght.
Axiles Bionics’ participation demonstrates the impact of university-driven innovation on entrepreneurship and technological progress in healthcare. The company will also feature at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, representing Belgium in medical robotics and AI technologies.
