
The Warsaw University of Technology has once again been listed in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2025, also known as the Shanghai Ranking. The university was placed in the 901–1000 range, maintaining the same position as last year.
In total, seven Polish universities were included in this year’s ranking of the world’s top 1000 institutions. The University of Warsaw ranked highest among them (401–500), followed by Jagiellonian University (501–600), AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków (801–900), Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (901–1000), Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (901–1000), and Wrocław University of Science and Technology (901–1000).
Globally, Harvard University, Stanford University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) topped the list. Eight of the top ten universities were from the United States.
First published in 2003, the ARWU is prepared annually by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy and is considered one of the most influential global university rankings. It evaluates institutions based on Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, highly cited researchers, publications in Nature and Science, as well as indexed articles and overall research performance.
