In a significant step toward international academic collaboration, Óbuda University welcomed high-level delegations from Shanghai University and Shandong Jiaotong University, two of China’s prominent institutions. The visit focused on strengthening research ties, student exchange, and joint innovation initiatives.
The Shanghai University delegation was led by Professor Xuemei Yu, Vice President, who introduced the university’s flagship programs and its role in China’s prestigious Double First-Class initiative. Ranked among the world’s top 300 by ARWU, Shanghai University is globally recognized for its excellence in mechanical engineering, chemistry, and materials science.
At Óbuda University, Professor Dr. Péter Galambos, Vice-Rector for Innovation, presented the university’s strategic research focus areas—particularly in medical informatics—and innovation ventures such as the Óbuda University Venture Capital (OUVC). Discussions emphasized potential collaborations in student mobility, joint research, IEEE conference co-organization, and publishing opportunities in Óbuda University’s academic journals.
The Shandong Jiaotong University delegation, headed by Professor Huaping Jiang, Vice President, included senior staff from both academic and international departments. With over 20,000 students and strong expertise in engineering, transportation, and artificial intelligence, the institution expressed keen interest in mutual faculty and student exchange programs, as well as joint academic events.
Talks also highlighted the importance of building long-term trust through education. Both sides discussed launching remote training programs and integrating intercultural education, potentially in partnership with Chinese industry leaders.
As global education becomes increasingly interconnected, Óbuda University’s engagement with Chinese institutions marks a proactive move in expanding its international footprint through innovation and cooperation.
