Győr, May 27, 2025 — In a breakthrough combining sport, science, and smart technology, Széchenyi István University has acquired a 10% stake in Nort Complex Pro Kft., a company that has developed an innovative smart training system targeting cognitive and motor skill development in athletes. The university is now actively participating in the continued software and hardware development of the system, marking a major step in sports tech collaboration.
The training tool—already award-winning, with a Red Dot Design Award—uses IT-guided visual signals (colors, numbers, shapes) displayed on field-side screens to sharpen attention control, decision-making, and coordination. It has shown notable effectiveness in studies led by Prof. Dr. József Topál, behavioral researcher and member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, who oversaw a one-year study involving junior footballers aged 5 to 12.
“Cognitive skills like working memory, spatial awareness, and perception accuracy improved significantly,” Prof. Topál reported. “And under real match pressure, players trained with the system showed quicker decision-making and better eye-foot coordination—traits common among professionals.”
The system was conceived by coach Roland Németh, who sought new ways to keep young players engaged in the age of digital distraction. The result is a screen-based, signal-driven training interface that replaces verbal instruction with visually engaging commands—now controllable across eight external screens.
“Innovation in Hungarian football begins with attention,” Németh stated, “and this system makes concentration a trainable skill.”
Looking forward, Széchenyi University will apply its research and engineering expertise to support system development and expand its use to other sports, including basketball and handball. According to Gábor Dósa, CEO of Uni Inno Zrt., the university’s health and sports technology division is committed to scaling this method nationally and internationally.
