following a decision by the Senate of the University of Nova Gorica, Rector Prof. Dr. Boštjan Golob sent a letter to European Commission President Dr. Ursula von der Leyen requesting support for the exclusion of Israel from all activities under the Horizon Europe program. A copy of the letter was also sent to European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.
The decision followed discussions among Slovenian university rectors, initiated on 25 July 2025 by Prof. Dr. Gregor Majdič, Rector of the University of Ljubljana, and Prof. Dr. Boštjan Golob, Rector of the University of Nova Gorica.
