Students of the Hungarian Dance University achieved major success at the 14th National Youth Folk Dance Solo Competition, held on January 17 in Eger.
The event is considered one of Hungary’s leading platforms for young folk dancers, offering competitors the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of authentic folk traditions and individual stage performance skills.
Graduating students Bori Busai and Zoltan Makula delivered standout performances in the 17–18 age group, earning the prestigious Gyongygalleros Dancer and Ezustpitykes Dancer titles. In addition, both received a special award from the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, which includes a performance invitation and financial recognition.
Eleven students from the university’s preparatory Folk Dance program entered the competition, with seven productions advancing to the final round. Several other university-affiliated dancers also received titles and special prizes.
For the second consecutive year, the Hungarian Dance University presented its own special award for outstanding achievement in stage folk dance performance.
