Lendva became a central hub of Slovenian dance at the end of January as two prestigious national competitions were held at the Theatre and Concert Hall. Among the standout performers was young talent Gerebic Brina, who will begin her studies at the Hungarian Dance University in Budapest this September.
According to the Slovenian Hungarian weekly Népújság, Lendva hosted the first National Contemporary Dance Competition for Young Dancers (KONTEMPO 2026) on January 26–27, followed by the 17th National Ballet Competition for Young Dancers (BALTEK 2026) from January 30 to February 1.
The competitions highlighted high-level performances, strong dedication from young artists, and meaningful professional exchange in both contemporary dance and ballet.
At the ballet competition, Gerebic Brina achieved outstanding success, winning first place nationally in her category (II.a). Beginning this autumn, she will continue her artistic journey as a student of the Hungarian Dance University.
Congratulations to Gerebic Brina and her mentor, Eszter Tóth, on this remarkable achievement.
