The Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences (MATE) made its debut in 3×3 basketball at the EUSA European Universities Championship, held in Salerno, Italy, from August 1–5, 2025. The team, consisting of Bálint Bohner, Márk Greguss-Kána, Levente Kárpáti, and Mihály Kondrák, led by coach Dávid Tasnádi, competed against 44 teams from 17 European countries.
Despite being newcomers and one of the youngest squads, MATE delivered commendable performances, including a narrow one-point victory over the German University of Tübingen. This achievement secured them 5th place in their group, surpassing most Hungarian universities in the rankings.
In addition to the main tournament, MATE was represented in side events such as the 3-point contest—where Kárpáti placed 7th—and the sack race, in which Bohner achieved a podium finish.
The debut marks a promising first step in building the university’s presence in this sport, with preparations already underway for the upcoming MEFOB and EUSA competitions.
