Researchers from Gdańsk University of Technology (Politechnika Gdańska) together with experts from APS Group, a producer of HVAC systems, developed a hybrid device for thermal and humidity air treatment. The system integrates a reversible air heat pump, a multi-fuel internal combustion engine with electricity generation, and an advanced heat recovery system. The device is designed as a trigeneration system producing electricity, heat, and cooling simultaneously, suitable for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Key technological features include:Using air as a low-temperature heat source for the heat pump.Employing a combustion engine with emission-reduction systems instead of a conventional electric motor.Enabling heat recovery and re-utilization to maximize efficiency.Compatibility with existing HVAC installations. This solution is currently under patent procedure and addresses energy efficiency, decentralized energy production, and low-emission goals in Poland and Europe. The collaboration between PG and APS Group will also include training in modern energy technologies and further development of original energy solutions.
