The University of South Bohemia was nominated for the 2025 Internationalization category of the awards presented by the House of International Cooperation (DZS). JU’s project, “Africa is Not Europe”, stems from a long-term collaboration between the Faculty of Theology and partners in Zambia. The initiative allowed Czech social work students to gain insight into different approaches to social services, while Zambian students experienced European practices in working with vulnerable populations. Three Zambian students participated in courses and internships at JU, including practical experience with children, seniors, and people with disabilities. The program strengthened intercultural skills, language competencies, sustainable education, and international prestige of the university, demonstrating that international academic cooperation is about mutual learning and experience-sharing rather than one-way knowledge transfer.
