Dr. hab. Grzegorz Rosiak from the 2nd Department of Clinical Radiology at CSK UCK WUM delivered a lecture on interventional radiology as part of the university’s Patronage Program for high school students.During the session, Dr. Rosiak explained the difference between a radiologist and an interventional radiologist, detailing the diagnostic and minimally invasive therapeutic procedures performed in this rapidly growing medical field. He demonstrated techniques such as CT-guided biopsies and ablations used to treat tumors, including thermoablation (high-temperature destruction of tissue) and cryoablation (low-temperature freezing of tissue). The benefits of these procedures, especially for older patients or those with other health conditions, were also discussed. The event included an extensive Q&A session, with students asking about procedure effectiveness, potential complications, and indications for specific treatments. The lecture was attended by 130 students from two Warsaw high schools under WUM patronage: VIII Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Władysława IV and XL Liceum Ogólnokształcące z Oddziałami Dwujęzycznymi im. Stefana Żeromskiego. The session took place in the auditorium of the University Centre of Dentistry.
