Researchers from the IT University of Copenhagen have secured a major research grant to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming the design of digital services and how this transformation can be made responsible and ethical. The project, titled RAID Responsible AI in Interaction Design Practice, is a Nordic research collaboration examining how designers integrate AI tools into their workflows and how these technologies influence digital products used in everyday life. The three-year initiative received 16.3 million NOK in funding from NordForsk and was selected among 17 projects from nearly 200 applications. The research team will study emerging design practices involving generative AI and investigate challenges such as usability, fairness, inclusion, and compliance with new regulations like the EU AI Act.The project brings together experts in human–computer interaction and human-centred AI from several Nordic universities, including the University of Bergen, Aarhus University, University of Gothenburg, and Tampere University.By combining expertise across countries and disciplines, the collaboration aims to develop a Nordic approach to AI design that prioritizes transparency, human oversight, and public trust while supporting responsible digital innovation.
