
A record 264 secondary school students have graduated from the Scholars Ireland Programme at Trinity College Dublin, marking the largest cohort in the initiative’s history.Delivered through the Trinity Access Programmes, the scheme introduces students to university style learning while they are still in school. Over five months, participants completed academic modules taught by PhD tutors, gaining hands on experience with university level assignments and assessment methods.The programme covered a wide range of subjects, including neuroscience, sustainability, immunology, and the power of art. It is designed to build confidence and help students view higher education as an achievable goal.The initiative is supported by AccessEd and aims to widen participation by supporting students from underrepresented communities. This year’s intake represents a significant increase, with a 29 percent rise compared to the previous year.Programme leaders highlighted the impact of the experience in developing academic skills and encouraging students to pursue university pathways, reinforcing the message that higher education is accessible to all.
