
Université de Namur held a conference titled “Médecine et littérature”, exploring the connections between medical practice and literary creation. Nearly 70 participants discussed how narratives, illness, and patient experiences inform both literature and medicine. Speakers highlighted the narrative nature of medical practice and the therapeutic potential of writing and reading. Experts including Simon Absil, Yves Poumay, Elisabeth Leijnse, Emma‑Louise Silva, and Anne Roekens emphasized interdisciplinary benefits for research and health professional training. The event concluded with a virtual presentation of rare medical texts from the BUMP library.
