The Warsaw University of Technology has completed its participation in the government funded Atom on Campus initiative, aimed at preparing highly qualified engineering professionals for Poland’s developing nuclear energy sector. The project was financed by the Ministry of Energy and focused on combining academic instruction with hands on industrial experience.
The interdisciplinary program involved multiple faculties and covered topics ranging from reactor physics and radiation safety to legal frameworks and materials engineering. Specialized laboratory sessions allowed students to gain direct insight into nuclear technologies and safety systems.
A key component of the initiative was a paid industrial internship scheme. Twenty four students completed more than 12000 hours of practical training across 12 research institutes and technology companies. The program enabled participants to work on real technical challenges under expert supervision, strengthening their professional competencies and readiness for employment in the nuclear sector.
University evaluations highlighted strong student satisfaction and confirmed the program’s high academic and organizational standards. The initiative forms part of a broader strategy to support the development of nuclear energy expertise in Poland.
