Researchers from Roskilde University, University of Copenhagen, and Helmholtz Diabetes Center have discovered three new mechanisms behind the formation of pancreatic ducts. Using advanced 3D live imaging, the team observed how duct networks develop from existing structures, form complex node networks, and remodel into simplified tree-like patterns via a process called “loop closure.” These findings could improve understanding of pancreatic diseases such as diabetes and support advances in regenerative medicine.
