Denmark | A new study from the University of Copenhagen has found that combining basketball activities with mathematics lessons can significantly improve students’ understanding of fractions. The eight week Basketball Mathematics program involved more than 300 students aged 11 to 13. During physical education classes, pupils practiced basketball drills while solving fraction and percentage related tasks based on their performance. Students who participated in the program scored 15 percent higher in fraction tests and also showed improvements in other mathematics tasks compared to control groups.Researchers found that students were more motivated, engaged, and confident during the lessons. The study suggests that integrating physical activity into academic learning can strengthen educational outcomes while maintaining enjoyment and participation.
