The Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences (MATE) has launched its flagship Research Excellence (KKP) and Key Research Group (KKCs) programs for 2026, reinforcing its commitment to advancing modern agriculture through cutting-edge research. The two-day event recognized researchers who completed prior projects and welcomed new participants, awarding certificates for their achievements.
Rector Dr. Csaba Gyuricza emphasized that “there is no modern agriculture without a strong research background,” highlighting that these programs support both individual researchers and collaborative groups while boosting MATE’s international visibility.
Dr. Zoltán Kovács, outgoing head of the programs, noted that 180 researchers from 18 institutes across MATE now form a vibrant research community. Dr. Mónika Varga will assume project management duties for the upcoming cycle, presenting this year’s program plan.
The event also featured lectures and interactive workshops, including Prof. Mark Robson on agrifood chains and food safety, and practical sessions on communication, negotiation, and conflict management in scientific and educational contexts.
The programs aim to integrate research excellence with practical applications, supporting MATE’s MATE 2030 strategy and cultivating the next generation of leaders in agricultural and life sciences.
