Doctoral researcher Anna Hrbáčková from the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University is examining gender representation in sports journalism and media. A former athlete and musician, she found her path in sports communication through volunteer work at major events, including the 2015 Ice Hockey World Championship in Prague. Her research focuses on how athletes and audiences perceive female sports journalists. Initial findings suggest that while stereotypes persist in some environments, public attitudes toward women in sports media are increasingly positive.Alongside her academic work, Hrbáčková is active in sports PR and marketing, supporting international competitions and promoting women’s team sports. She has also presented her research internationally and recently published as lead author in the journal Journalism.
