Mark Simpson, a graduate of Griffith College Dublin’s Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism, has been appointed Managing Editor of RTÉ Radio 1.
Before joining RTÉ, Simpson served as Deputy Managing Editor at Newstalk, part of Bauer Media Audio Ireland, where he played a key role in shaping the station’s editorial output. In his new position, he will oversee RTÉ Radio 1’s editorial strategy and programming.
Simpson’s postgraduate studies at Griffith College Dublin provided practical training in multimedia reporting, investigative journalism, and digital communications, forming the foundation of his career in broadcast journalism and editorial leadership.
The Head of RTÉ Radio 1, Tara Campbell, welcomed his appointment, praising his editorial expertise and industry experience. RTÉ officially announced his new role on 7 August 2025.
