Marco Giuli successfully defended his thesis, “The Integration of Energy Security and Climate Objectives in Europe’s External Energy Policy,” at the Brussels School of Governance. Supervised by Prof. Sebastian Oberthür (VUB) and Prof. Thijs Van de Graaf (Ghent University), his research examines how EU external energy policy integrates climate and energy security goals, analyzing crisis responses, relations with gas suppliers, and decarbonisation impacts. Findings show increasing coherence between climate and energy security objectives, highlighting institutional, economic, and geopolitical factors.
