Brno University of Technology has introduced a new internal grant competition called Reconnect, aimed at supporting researchers and PhD students returning to academia after career breaks. The initiative responds to challenges caused by parental leave, long-term illness, or caregiving responsibilities.The program offers part-time research positions, funding for mentoring, team development, and opportunities for international mobility. It also includes financial support for childcare or dependent care, helping participants balance personal and professional responsibilities.Applications are open from April 1 to June 2, 2026. The initiative is designed to reduce barriers, address gender inequalities, and prevent the loss of talented researchers by enabling a smoother return to active research careers.
